Guntur Medical College is one of the premiere medical institutions in south India. It is located in the heart of city of Guntur, the knowledge hub of Andhra Pradesh. The institution, established in the Pre independent India, has come a long way since 1946, the year of its inception. The college is recognized by Govt. of India and the National Medical Commission (NMC) and is affiliated with Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada and is in the process of becoming autonomous as Guntur Institute of Medical Sciences. It has an annual intake of 250 seats in MBBS, 102 seats in 22 disciplines of Post-Graduate studies and 12 seats in 5 disciplines of Super-Specialization studies.
Guntur Medical College is one of the few centres in the country to have satellite based training. The college is equipped with state-of-the-art huge classrooms, Lecture halls, Examination halls, Common rooms, Demonstration rooms. An ultra modern air conditioned Auditorium and has the latest audiovisual equipment with a seating capacity for 900. There are well-equipped Laboratories and Skill labs with Departmental museums. The College library has 28,000 books and subscribes to more than 100 journals including access to another 100 E-Journals including Reading Room. There are separate residential facilities for boys and girls with mess facility. There are two buildings which provide accommodation for 302 students. A ladies' hostel opposite to Guntur Officers Club provides accommodation for 210 female students. The male students have hostel facilities located on the Amaravathi Road about 3 km. from the college. Indoor and Outdoor games. sports and recreational facilities are in place. The college works in conjunction with Government General Hospital-Guntur, a tertiary care hospital with 1500 beds, catering to the health needs of the public of the coastal belt of Andhra Pradesh, India. The OP departments provide medical relief for between two and three thousand people daily. The Hospital has all the Pre-Clinical, Para-Clinical and Clinical departments. The MCC/DGHS conducts Counseling for allotment of Post Graduate (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS) seats to the NEETPG/MDS eligible and qualified candidates in participating Government Medical/Dental Colleges of the country under 50% All India Quota and 100% Central & Deemed University quota every year. All the candidates who have qualified for All India Quota seats on the basis of their rank in NEET PG /MDS conducted by NBE including candidates from Union Territory of J&K will be eligible. The role of MCC of DGHS is limited to allotment of seats to the participating candidates, as per their merit and choice, which starts only after receiving the list/data/Information of successful candidates from National Board of Examinations (NBE) i.e. the NEET (PG) examination conducting body
Candidates who fall under the category of NRI as per the directions/ orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the case (W.P. No. 689/2017- Consortium of Deemed Universities in Karnataka (CODEUNIK) & Anr. Vs. Union of India &Ors.) dated 22-08- 2017 are eligible for NRI Category seats. OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals will be eligible for only NRI seats .The eligible Indian National Candidates wanting to get converted to sponsored NRI category have to submit the documents as and when the same are called for by the MCC.

Eligibility Condition:
There are multiple rounds of counselling i.e. Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 & Stray Vacancy Round. ALL four rounds of AIQ, Deemed University, Central University/Institutes, DNB, are conducted by MCC through ONLINE ONLY i.e., Round 1, Round 2 , Round 3, and Stray Vacancy round. In the YEAR 2022–23 (Round 3) was called the Mop-Up round, where there was no sliding (upgradation) from the 2nd round to the mop-up round, but in 2023–2024, there was an upgradation from ROUND 2 to Round 3. In 2023-2024 Stray Vacancy Round was ONLINE, but in 2022-23 Stray Vacancy Round is conducted physically by the Deemed Universities for which the list of registered & eligible Candidates is forwarded by MCC to the respective Deemed Universities. The allotment shall only be in terms of merit. As per the directions issued by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in SLA(C) No. 10487 of 2021, the AIQ scheme has been modified and 04 rounds of AIQ counselling will be conducted by MCC of DGHS, MoHFW. Hence, 3rd round (earlier mop-up round) and fourth round i.e. stray vacancy round will be conducted in AIQ from 2021-22 onwards.

RESERVATIONS:1. Seats of Post Graduate Degree and Diploma Courses are reserved for SC, ST, BC, and BC sub groups as detailed below, which are called vertical reservations.
2. Candidates claiming reservations under SC/ST/BC categories shall submit a permanent social status certificate issued by Andhra Pradesh Government as specified in the application form. The social status of SC/ST/BC candidates shall be subject to scrutiny as per G.O.Ms.No.58 SW (J) Dept. Dt 12-5-97. 3. seats of Post Graduate Degree and Diploma Courses as per NMC guidelines shall be reserved for women and differently-abled candidates, which are horizontal reservations for PG (Medical) Courses as detailed below. Women reservation - 33 1/3% Physically Challenged - 5% RESERVATIONS FOR ECONOMICALLY WEAKER SECTIONS (EWS): The reservation of 10% in favor of Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in admissions will be implemented only if seats are sanctioned for EWS Quota by Govt. of India / National Medical Council for the academic year . 4. The candidates seeking the benefit of reservation under the PwD category should enclose a valid disability certificate issued within three months prior to presenting / her application. The guidelines of Govt. of India and regulations of the National Medical Council shall be observed in making admissions of persons with disabilities (PwD candidates). The Medical Board constituted by the University will scrutinize/verify the disability certificates as per G.O.MS.No.31 Women development, Child welfare & disabled welfare (DW) department dated 01-12-2009 and candidates claiming reservation under PwD quota for confirmation of eligibility and the decision of Medical Board specially constituted for the purpose is final and binding on the candidates. |

As per G.O Ms.No. 29, dt.22-03-2018 of HM & FW (C1) Dept., Government of AP, the service candidates will be given weightage of marks for determining their Merit position in the State as noted below: (a) Tribal Area means: Minimum 2 (two) years of regular and continuous service in PHCs / CHCs/ Area Hospitals/ District Hospitals/ Sample Survey cum assessment units/Leprosy temporary hospitalization wards & any Tribal Institute recognized by Government of Andhra Pradesh. (b) Rural Area means: Minimum 3 (three) years of regular and continuous service in PHCs/CHCs/Area Hospitals/District Hospitals/MCH/Sample Survey cum assessment units/Leprosy Control Units/Leprosy temporary hospitalization wards/Mobile Medical Units & any Rural Institute recognized by Government of Andhra Pradesh. Minimum 6 (six) years of continuous regular service in AP Medical & Health Services/ APVVP/ AP Insurance Medical Services/University of Health Sciences. After completion of specialization, the in-service doctors to be available to serve in Government facilities in the same area (Tribal /Rural / Continuous regular service) from where the reservation was sought, to a minimum of six (6) years, subject tothe availability of vacancies in respective specialties, through a bond. |
